When Should You Cut Your Wedding Cake // Wedding Tip

We all love cake, but I find that wedding cake is nearly always wasted. Here are some top tips to get the best out of your wedding day cake.

Your cake deserves attention.

You spend time + money choosing the design, flavours, and the baker, so you want guests to enjoy it rather than watch it dry out in a corner.

Everyone loves cake! And let’s face it, you have paid a big chunk of money for people to see it and eat it.  So please don’t leave it in the corner of a room, being ignored and drying out, while everyone is dancing away on the dance floor.

I often find that cutting the cake after the meal means it gets wasted. So here is a crazy idea…Make your cake a feature, work it into your timeline line and CUT IT BEFORE THE MEAL!

Here’s why cutting it early just makes sense:

During your drinks reception, everyone’s already together in one place. Call out “cake time” and the whole crowd turns. Easy!

People actually eat it during the drinks reception. No sad, untouched slices hiding behind the bands speakers later.

You may not need quite as many canapés if you’re serving cake at this point, which keeps costs down.

If you prefer, cut the cake early and then use it as your pudding. One simple switch and you remove the need for a second dessert.

Your photos will also look great because the light is better, your guests are engaged, and the energy is high.

REMEMBER:

there are no rules – cakes, brownies, cupcakes, cheese, this is your wedding, you have what you want!
