The ceremony took place in the couple’s garden and had been completely transformed for the day. Hay bales were set out for seating, and layered rugs created a soft aisle through the space. Colour filled every corner with handmade touches and pom pom decorations giving the garden a pop of colour. Nothing looked staged or overly styled, it felt just like it was, like stepping into someone’s home that had been opened up for something special. The space felt personal and lived in, which made it easy for guests to relax straight away.

Instead of a traditional celebrant, the couple asked their best friend to lead the ceremony. That simple choice changed the tone of the entire moment. It felt relaxed and familiar, with laughter breaking through naturally and words that carried real meaning because they came from the heart. It didn’t feel formal; it felt honest and grounded in connection.

One of the standout moments came when the entire garden broke into a group singalong of 500 Miles. No one planned it to be quiet or polished. Guests stood up from their seats and joined in without hesitation. It was loud, imperfect and completely unfiltered, and it became one of those moments people kept talking about long after the day ended.

As the afternoon moved on, the energy shifted into games and laughter. Flip cup turned into what can only be described as the most competitive version of the game anyone had seen. Teams formed quickly and the rules became loose as the focus moved from laughing to winning and being part of the chaos together. It set the tone for the rest of the evening, which was utter carnage, but the best kind.

When the light started to fade, the garden didn’t quiet down. Music blasted out and serious moves were shown. Drinks were shared, and shots of fireball made their way around the crowd. Dancing carried on into the early hours with no sense that the night needed to end at a certain time.

What made this wedding work so well was not the styling or the structure but the way people were involved. Friends played a real part in the ceremony, guests were active participants in the day, and nothing felt overly controlled or staged. It created space for real moments to happen naturally.

Amy and Lewis created the perfect example of a relaxed back garden wedding. Full of colour, connection, chaos and joy, it was a day that felt completely true to them and the people they love most.
