A STUNNING WEDDING IN A TROPICAL BOTANICAL WONDERLAND, SET IN THE HEART OF SURREY
RHS Wisley always feels like a little escape.
Every time I walk in, I notice something new.
So when Gemma and Ed asked me to photograph their wedding here, I was already excited before the day even started.
They are both drawn to colour, quirky details, and spaces that feel a bit different.
They wanted a venue that felt bright, bold, and full of life.
RHS Wisley gave them all of that, and more.
It also meant something personal to them, with family memories tied into the gardens through Gemma’s grandparents. That kind of connection always adds something extra to a wedding day.
Their ceremony took place in the Waterlily Pavilion. A relaxed humanist ceremony with a lot of heart.Friends and family sang You Can Hurry Love, which set the tone straight away.
It felt personal, a bit unexpected, and very them.
After the ceremony, everyone moved outside into the walled garden with glasses of bubbles and sunshine. No rush. Just time to soak it all in.
We then wandered through the gardens for portraits. RHS Wisley stretches wide, with so many pockets to explore.
We started in the cottage garden.
Soft colour everywhere. Climbing roses. Alliums standing tall. Wisteria weaving through arches.
From there, we moved into the Rock Garden.
One of the older parts of Wisley, full of texture and shape.
Then we ended inside The Glasshouse.
This space always feels like stepping somewhere else entirely.
Tall tropical planting. Warm air. Water falling through the centre. Light shifting as the sun moves.
Gemma and Ed styled it beautifully.
Flowers By Lulu brought in colour that lifted the whole room.
They added personal touches too. A DIY bar. A photo booth corner. A naked cake decorated with succulents that fit the space perfectly.
As evening came in, the day changed pace. Speeches brought laughter, pauses, and a few tears.
Then the Glasshouse shifted again. Lights turned down. Music built.
It felt like a jungle party under glass.
People dancing, talking, eating, laughing. No one in a rush to leave.
A full day that felt easy, warm, and completely theirs.
